About Dave
Dave grew up in McKinley Park and attended St Maurice Grammar School and Kelly High School. Growing up, you could always find Dave at the park playing baseball and hockey with his brothers and friends. After graduation, Dave attended Washburne Trade School and was a union painter for Local 191 for 38 years.
Throughout his life, Dave stayed active by playing his favorite sports- softball, hockey, bowling and golf. Dave was the captain of his beloved Humpers bowling team for 41 years. During that time, Dave achieved the most honorable goal of bowling a perfect 300 game four times- October 25, 2007, March 24, 2011, January 28, 2016, and December 4, 2016. After retirement, Dave spent a few days a week perfecting his golf swing and on August 7, 2020 his hard work paid off when he shot his first hole-in-one. Besides playing in men’s leagues and travel leagues with his friends, Dave also organized a golf outing for his friends called, “My Wife is in Florida” where men throughout Dave’s life joined for a day of fun on the golf course and then food and drinks back at Dave’s summer house.
Dave and Karen loved going on cruises, going to Florida with friends, spending weekends at the cottage, and playing Texas Holdem and Euchre.
Throughout his fight with cancer, Dave stayed positive and active- demo-ing the first floor of his house and designing his dream kitchen. He was so strong that after chemo treatments, he’d even go to the bowling alley to bowl or to cheer on his team. He continued to golf and he loved meeting up for breakfast with his buddies.
Dave leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Karen, and his two children, Melissa Collins and Dave (Donna) Moone. He adored his three grandchildren, Blake, Summer, and Savannah, as well his two granddogs, Tito and Chalupa.
He is also survived by his brothers Robert and Richard (Patricia) Moone.
